ECEAP
Program |
|
ECEAP, (Early Childhood Education and
Assistance Program) is a state funded, life enrichment program for low
income families that provides a classroom experience for preschool aged
children. There is no charge for the program, which is administered by
the Community Colleges of Spokane.
Liberty Park Child Development Center is one of the few ECEAP program
sites that offer child care for hours before and after the
ECEAP program for parents who are working or going to school. All children
enrolled in Liberty Park ECEAP may also be enrolled in our child care
program.
Our programs welcome diversity. We are committed to respecting human dignity
and individual differences. We follow the principles of equal opportunity,
affirmative action and non-discrimination for all protected groups. |

| Parent
Involvement |
Parent involvement is the key to success for families enrolled in ECEAP. Parents are
partners with the staff and are involved in decision making in all areas of the program.
Parents are representatives to the Policy Council, which makes policy decisions for the
program. Each center conducts a monthly parent meeting.
Liberty Park Child Development Center ECEAP provides a variety of
services to children and families including education, health
screenings, nutrition/meals, and social service referrals. |
| |
| Education
|
|
The classroom experience gives children the opportunity to be with other
children and to explore and discover. Early childhood teachers provide
developmental screenings and opportunities for children to develop their
social, emotional, intellectual and physical skills. |
| |
| Health
|
|
Children receive routine health screenings and they are taught good health
practices in the classroom. ECEAP requires current physical and dental exams
and up-to-date immunizations. A variety of educational opportunities are
offered for adults to support a healthy and safe family. |
| |
| Nutrition
|
|
Children receive one meal and one snack in the classroom and are also taught healthy
eating habits. Parents are offered practical nutritional information. Liberty Park
Child Development Center participates in the USDA food program which requires that
all snacks and meals meet strict nutritional guidelines. |
| |
| Social
Services |
|
Families are provided with information and referrals to community resources
to meet family needs and to identify family goals. Classes and activities are
offered in a wide variety of interests such as parenting issues and family
recreation ideas. |
| |
| Special
Services |
|
ECEAP provides a mainstream early childhood setting for children with
disabilities. When a child is identified as having special needs, staff
work with parents to refer their child to agencies, such as the Spokane
County Early Intervention Program and local school districts for services.
In addition, translators can be provided for English as a Second Language
families. |
| |
| Eligibility
|
|
Family eligibility is based on federal low-income guidelines for the total gross income.
Children eligible for ECEAP must be four years old by August 31. |
| |
| Cost
|
|
Free. However, our state funding depends on community and parent volunteer
efforts. Parents must commit to their child's regular attendance. |
| |
| Time
|
Liberty Park Child Development Center ECEAP operates Mondays-Thursdays
from Mid-September to the end of May. Parents select either morning or
